Reconciled service charges by location and park classification
Component rates are effected by rounding to 2 decimal places and conversion.
Findings
In this section the effect of location on expenditure in Parks of varying classifications is examined.
The highest rate was £1.30 per sq ft (£13.99 per sq m) for Shopping Parks in the South while the lowest was £0.66 per sq ft (£7.10 per sq m) in Bulky Goods Parks in the South.
In previous years we have identified that costs generally are lower in the North mainly through the influence of the region's lower labour costs.
In Bulky Goods Parks, the costs are overall higher in the North, which is mainly related to security. As we have seen with size, it could be a reaction resulting from the local environment to the park as well as a requirement for a higher quality of service.
With Retail Parks, the costs overall are also higher in the North, but in this case it is administration and promotions that are significantly higher.
In Shopping Parks costs are in total lower in the North, although the administration and security are higher which could result from influences within the local surroundings of parks. The data shows a regional influence on costs, but it is less strong than size and can be masked by issues of quality and a reaction to the local environment to the park.
